About Me

I’ve worked as a racing form analyst for 15 years for several different organisations such as Sky Racing, Daily Telegraph and the Gold Coast Bulletin and I continue to hone my skills and refine my edge in the market each year.

I pride myself on adapting to the new ways of doing the form and have found an approach that mixes expert data, my own database and proven methods that have thankfully been successful over a long period.

What I love about doing the form is you can never stop getting better and improving your edge over the market.

I’m a big believer that being a form analyst is just as much about staking, mentally handling variance and having proper systems in place as it is about finding winners.

I only bet when I feel I’m getting value and that is something that is key to enhancing your chances of long term profitability on the punt. There are no guarantees we will win long term of course.

Value, however, is available both at the top end of the market and in roughies and I feel I provide the right blend of horses at shorter odds and longer odds for followers to back and take advantage of.

I’m extremely disciplined and you’ll never hear me use the phrase ‘load up’ or ‘get out stakes’.

This game is one long race day and all that matters is long term results and that’s all I’m focussed on.

What happens day to day is just variance but what happens year to year is what counts.

My love for the sport comes from the ever present challenge of finding an edge in the market.

I started this business to help educate others and to take punters along for the journey. I think punters are extremely undervalued by the industry and I’ve always been a punter, just like you.

Background

I was born and grew up in Perth, WA.

My love for racing started at a young age through going to the races with my dad as a boy. My dad owned a few horses and I fell in love with the game the moment I stepped onto a racecourse.

I had Melbourne Cup Day off school every year from the age of eight to watch the big race but it wasn’t until I finished studying a bachelor of communication at University in Perth that my interest for racing became more serious.

I moved to Albany, WA for my first job as a sports journalist for the Albany Advertiser and it was here that I started doing the form on the local races.

Two years later, I was lucky enough to score a form analyst/racing journalist job for the Gold Coast Bulletin where I continued to hone my skills for the next five years along with starting to work casually for Sky Racing giving selections on Brisbane and Sunshine Coast races.

From here, I moved to Sydney to take up a form analyst/racing journalist role with the Daily Telegraph. I was here for two years until I joined Sky Racing full time as a form analyst in early 2018.

Despite dabbling in racing journalism, I’ve never been a racing romantic.

My love for the sport does not come so much from the wonderful stories and people but simply the ever present challenge of finding an edge and profit through betting.

The game has changed so much in the time I have been a form analyst and no doubt it’ll continue to change. But I’ve adapted so much already and will continue to adapt going forward. I’m excited to kick off this new chapter in my career and I’m honoured that you’re contemplating joining me for the ride.
